Inspiring …

What about Ann Marshall?

Ann Marshall grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and earned her BFA from School of Visual Arts in New York City. She has worked in a gallery, illustrated an award winning children’s book on the Holocaust, and traveled nationally and internationally as an ethnographer and consumer anthropologist . Her fine art work has been exhibited in New York City’s Gallery at Lincoln Center. She now works as a portrait and fine artist.

“Because of the drastic scale reduction necessary for the web, there’s often a lot of confusion regarding my work. All figure work is done by hand, using either oil paint or pastel. The collage work is similarly low tech, constructed with scissors and an ever changing array of non-toxic glues.”

We loooooove it! A CYMO one …

Santiago is an illustrator based in Buenos Aires, Argentina .

What about Santiag Caruso?

Since 2001 he works professionally. Among his most important publishings you can find:
“The Dunwich Horror” by H. P. Lovecraft and “The Bloody Countess” by Alejandra Pizarnik,(Libros del Zorro Rojo); “The Cherry Tree” (Emecé); “Three Great Plays of Shakespeare” and “Don Quixote”, (Penguin Readers).

He has also made covers for Nightshade Books, Miskatonic River Press, Sudamericana and Emecé, among others.
Nowadays, he makes covers for the mythical magazine CARAS Y CARETAS.
His work stands out both for its vigor as well as for its technique. It is no overstatement to say that the work of Caruso, which is well represented in the galleries and museums of Buenos Aires,
is currently one of the most pleasant revelations of Latin American plastic arts.

If you are looking for an original piece of furniture, well Don’t Feed The Swedes a very nice stool, a Cap.

What about the Cap and DFTS?

We made a prototype of this stool a few years ago and had a massive response. People asking where they could buy it, who were Don’t Feed The Swedes…But getting it produced wasn’t easy. First up, the guys in suits thought it was ‘more fashion than design’. So we took it to the fashion folk – who loved it but didn’t know how to make furniture. So DFTS Factory was born and we made it ourselves.

With Cap we want to pay homage to an artform and culture which has inspired and provoked thoughtful expression across the world; Graffiti. It’s an iconic tribute piece to the personalities and works which gives Cap its inspiration. We hope that you’ll use it as it was intended – to make your own lasting statement of individuality. /Don’t Feed the Swedes
