Locked

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

N.I.K. studio presents Locked,  a short film about a car thief who wakes up, after a night out, in a car he stole. He is tied up and locked in the car. He can’t even imagine how big of a surprise is waiting for him, because every car has an owner.

Nikita Ovsyannikov (maker of  ‘Locked’) is a 21 year old independent filmmaker, painter and photographer, but his passion for films and television has dominated.  He just love emotion art.  He lives in Russia, in a small town called Pyatigorsk.

We looooooove it! Enjoy!

Ann Marshall

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Ann Marshall is an artist based in New York, US.

Her oil and paper collages are very interesting to watch , her portraits are very beautiful …

Inspiring …

What about Ann Marshall?

Ann Marshall grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and earned her BFA from School of Visual Arts in New York City. She has worked in a gallery,  illustrated an award winning children’s book on the Holocaust, and traveled nationally and internationally as an ethnographer and consumer anthropologist . Her fine art work has been exhibited in New York City’s Gallery at Lincoln Center. She now works as a portrait and fine artist.

“Because of the drastic scale reduction necessary for the web, there’s often a lot of confusion regarding my work. All figure work is done by hand, using either oil paint or pastel. The collage work is similarly low tech, constructed with scissors and an ever changing array of non-toxic glues.”

We loooooove it! A CYMO one …

Portrait of Crime

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010

Portrait of Crime by Santiago Carusu caught my moment today. Yes, it’s a beautiful piece of art :-)

Santiago  is an illustrator based in Buenos Aires, Argentina .

What about Santiag Caruso?

Since 2001 he works professionally. Among his most important publishings you can find:
“The Dunwich Horror” by H. P. Lovecraft and “The Bloody Countess” by Alejandra Pizarnik,(Libros del Zorro Rojo); “The Cherry Tree” (Emecé); “Three Great Plays of Shakespeare” and “Don Quixote”, (Penguin Readers).

He has also made covers for Nightshade Books, Miskatonic River Press, Sudamericana and Emecé, among others.
Nowadays, he makes covers for the mythical magazine CARAS Y CARETAS.
His work stands out both for its vigor as well as for its technique. It is no overstatement to say that the work of Caruso, which is well represented in the galleries and museums of Buenos Aires,
is currently one of the most pleasant revelations of Latin American plastic arts.

Satisfashion

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

‘style’, not fashion !

Yes, :-) It’s time to post some nice work from my friend, homie Christof ‘Stoffie’. He’s a designer, stylist and very verrrry creative.
Shot by Martin Bing (Antwerp/Paris), hair & make up by Jolene ‘Aiko’ Acke.

Please take a look @ his portfolio.  I like and I think you will definitely love it.

What about Satisfashion?

Every day is a new day and a continuation. A blank page on which I capture the information that has triggered me. This can be just about anything: details, objects, art, magazines, music, a record cover, a movie, lyrics, people, situations, etc. For my job it is highly important to stay up-to-date. I want to know what is happening both on a ‘high fashion’ and on a ‘high street’ level. For my own productions I am constantly looking for interesting images, locations, models and people, photographers, and make-up artists. I do research in fashion, film, music and art. I now have a great team working with me. Using existing clothes and accessories, I reinterpret and mix other people’s vision with my own, which makes styling  quite interesting. I love making new images every time. Apart from working with existing designs, I also work with my sewing machine, needle and thread. I’m constantly looking for original pieces in second-hand stores for instance, in order to decompose them at home and create something completely new. Currently I am working on a small collection of accessories made from fabrics and materials found during one of my many trips to charity shops and second-hand stores. My designs are very gothic and rock oriented – ‘barock’n’roll’, two worlds I find extremely interesting. These same designs return in my styling, in order for the image to get its own touch. In the future I will definitely continue challenging myself on different creative levels, because I love doing as much different things as possible. Anything goes, so I make it happen.

My favourites, Enjoy this moment!

1945-1998 by Isao Hashimoto

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

“1945-1998″ is an animated map by the Japanese artist Isao Hashimoto , showing the 2,053 nuclear explosions that took place around the world during the 20th century, from the detonations at Alamogordo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 to the tests conducted by India and Pakistan in 1998.

The month and year are displayed in top right corner, and the number of nuclear explosions for each country appear next to the flags in the margins. The total is displayed in the bottom right corner.

The numbers reveal that, on average, 1 nuclear explosion occurred every 9.6 days during the 54-year period, with the greatest activity in 1958 and 1962.

The time map does not include the two nuclear tests conducted by North Korea in October 2006 and May 2009, nor does it include the dozens of subcritical nuclear tests (explosions that do not produce a sustained nuclear chain reaction) conducted in recent years by the US/UK and Russia.

He began the piece in 2003, with the aim of showing, in his own words, “the fear and folly of nuclear weapons”. Hashimoto says: ” I created this work for the means of an interface to the people who are yet to know of the extremely grave, but present problem of the world.” Source Wired

What an interesting moment…

Wanderland

Saturday, July 31st, 2010

From Belgium, a very nice music video for “Wanderland” by Hermanos Inglesos feat. MeMe.  “Wanderland” is their new release.

The video is directed by Kristof Luyckx & Michèle Vanparys.

Who is Hermanos Inglesos?

The real Belgian life brothers Cedric and Didier Engels (Engels being the Dutch word for English, hence Hermanos Inglesos = English brothers, comprende?) feel best at home in their studio or behind a DJ-mixer, preferably in front of a frantic crowd, hungry for good times and exciting tunes.

In 2004 they won the Diesel-U-music awards

Culture Club (one of the most credible clubs in the world that also had 2manydjs and The Glimmers as residents) chose them ass residents in 2007 and they made 2 mix compilations for it.

Based on their first single “Mastermind” they were chosen “artist to watch out for in 2009” by Kissy Sell Out (BBC radio 1)

Their first single “Mastermind” got a big support by Tiga, Boris Dlugosh, Fake Blood, Kissy Sellout, Tommie Sunshine,…and many more

Past gigs: Canvas Club (London), Fizz Club (New York), Social Club (Paris), Pukkelpop, Nouveau Casino (Paris), Jimmy Woo (Amsterdam), Off Corso, Eurosonic, Lokerse Feesten, Marktrock, Petrol, Fuse, Café D’Anvers, Dirty Dancing, Culture Club, Bread & Butter (Berlin and Barcelona), Body 2 Body, Hot Couture, Antwerp Is Burning, 10 days off, K-Nal,…

Enjoy the video!

We loooove it…
