The Kelis’Polaroid moment by Ouni

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

My lovely friend Ouni brought a new story “Caught Out There”, one of the Polaroid moments during her trip in Miami.

I enjoyed her story.  She did it again. :-)

If you are not familiar with the gorgeous, bootylicious, dazzling individual nicely polarized above…

…then I guess you’re just not that into Milkshake.

You might Trick her once, but she Caught your cheating ass out there , in the meantime she brings back all the boys to the yard, providing them with that good stuff, while  she is living the life of a Millionaire , because at the end, she got the money. You might Keep it down, caus word is she she can be Bossy, but atleast she got the balls to bring it to you Accappella, Blindfolded and in Public if necessary.

A Polaroid Story is very proud to hand over the 5th woman featured on my little blog. (continue reading)

Music From A Bonsai

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

“Music from a Bonsai by” Diego Stocco.

Yes, music from a Bonsai… First I tought WT…!  A bonsai that produces music? impossible…

But this is what Diego Stocco did:

I always liked bonsai trees, and I was curious to try the approach I used for “Music from a Tree” on a smaller scale, so I bought a bonsai and recorded this little experimental piece.

To determine the key I used the lowest note I could play and recorded the rest around it.

Besides playing the leaves, I used bows of different sizes, a piano hammer and a paint brush.
As far as microphones I used my Røde NT6, a customized stethoscope and tiny MEAS piezo transducers.

I played all the sounds and rhythms only with the bonsai, I didn’t use any synthesizer or samplers to create or modify the sounds. I hope you’ll like it.

At this link you can see some pictures with more detailed descriptions.

What a moment…

Soulicious Miquy

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Soulicious Miquy definitely catched my moment.  She is a young talented photographer based in Brussels.

Very fresh & fly she is!

I asked her  to send me more information. So here you go :-) .

Who is Miquy?

I’m Miquy aka ‘Soulicious’, a 23 years old self-taught photographer from Brussels (Belgium).

My inspiration comes from pretty much everything… I’m really sensitive to music. It puts me in different moods that inspired my work a lot; even if no-one feels it… Movies, people, urbanism, nature, mode also inspired me. Above all things I’m passioned by the image in general (paint, draw, graphism, design, video, animation)… and I choose photography which is for me the best way to deal with subjects that inspired me.

I started to take pictures of my friends in Augustus 2009, just for fun. A couple of weeks later I was in possession of a DSLR for the first time and no culture in photography at all! So it was about experimentation for me.
Loads of pictures later there I was considering photography in a more serious way, taking interest in practical method… at that time my passion was born.

I always look forward to bring the best of me for the project I work on. I’m still in a learning phase, so I focus on the technique. I like to immortalize moments and also to stage my shooting, to create atmosphere and to emphasize it in post prod. At the same time I love the gist of the photography itself; to focus while I’m shooting…when nothing else matters.

Click here  and discover more …

I really did’nt know wich picture to choose because they are all momentcatchers for me .

Sooo I picked following images. Enjoy this moment!

We loooooooove it!

Eva Thöni

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

During the Benetton casting a couple of weeks ago I met a very nice, creative lady, Eva Thöni.

Eva is a self-portrait artist , also standing in front of her own camera.

Her art and photography cathed my moment.  The pictures on her Flickr page and website makes me dream away…

An astonishing moment .

Who is Eva?

Through my camera the world looks different!

I’m Eva, a young self taught photographer from Austria. Currently I am studying business informatics in Innsbruck, Tyrol and photography is my passion.

Some years ago I started taking photos just for fun. In February 2007 I bought my first digital SLR and take artistic photos since then. Most of the time I use natural light but I also take two Nikon SB-28 speedlights. Currently I am shooting with a Canon EOS 500d.
Very often I stand behind and in front of the camera at the same time. I’m a self-portrait artist and for me this is a wonderful experience, I love getting to know two totally different views.

Photography allows me to relax and let my mind wander. Going for a walk with my boyfriend and my camera in spring really recharges my batteries. Nature and music inspire a lot of my work. However, I don’t let reality stand in the way of my imagination.

You want to contact Eva?

Check her pictures on photocaseflickr and her website.

aaaaand click here to check the interview she did for HappyPhoton.de (a german photography blog)

We loooooooooooooove Eva Thöni …

Benetton casting is over …

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

My Dear Friends,

I want to thank you with all my heart for your votes and support!

At the end, it s not about the votes, it s not about if I win or not, it s about the new friendships I made.

Ce n’est pas le chute qui compte mais l’atterrissage!
It is not the fall that counts but the landing!

Thank you again for your support!
Love & positivity!!
Friendship & happiness ..

On to the next!!! :)

I also want to congratulate the 100 finalists and the 20 lucky ones going to NY.

Soooo NOW, we aaall know what to do, next time, if Benetton is searching for new models for their 2011 campaign; If you want it to be your time than it’s time to cheat:

1. Don’t live your live and lock yourself up @ home 24/7 (very pathetic)

2. Act like a monkey and be very unoriginal , copy-paste is a must!

3. Don’t look at the profile, just comment (yes some of the top 100 commented me several time, and I noticed they don’t even take a look at my profile, a sad and egoistic story)

4. Ask the local newspaper to put an announce / Ask company’s /Aks your friends and Family to vote for you, the more grey votes the more chance you can win …

5. Be aggressive, stalking is accepted

6. Ask your friends/family/company/sports club/ …. to stalk other contestants and beg for votes. You can even pay them to work for you for a month (like some did) !

7. Ask your IT nerd friend to Sabotage the whole thing and generate more votes.

8. …

Personally I used point 4, Yess, I asked my friends via facebook, my family and all CYMO readers to vote for me.

1224 votes and I think 846 comments in 21 days seems normal to me.
I saw people with 4500 votes with 200 comments  and less in 2 weeks? hmmmm, Do I smell cheaters here? oOoOo Yessss I do …
I ended number 346 from the 65000 contestants without stalking people with comments such as vote for me, vote for a vote in a very aggressive way or asking my mom to beg for votes 24/7.
I am happy. :-)

This competition is a great marketing campaign from Benetton, a great opportunity to meet new interesting people.

Some of us learned in this competition how to cheat more ,and more, and more to obtain what they want.

Hmm, is this the future?

Anyway, I live so it’s still my time!! woehoeeeee :-)

Why Catch Your Moment?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Hello my dear friends,

Occasionally I am asked where CYMO comes from.

Why Catch Your Moment?

The idea originated in 2006 during the 2 hardest weeks in my life.

Those 2 weeks were mainly:
- A moment of physical pain
- A moment of mental pain
- A moment with great emotion
- A moment of patience exercise
- A moment of perspective
- A moment where I realized that I live.
- A moment where I realized that my life hangs by a thread.
- A moment I realized how important my family and friends are.
- A moment I realized who my real friends are.
- A moment I realized how important moments are.
- A moment where I realized that I will cherish those moments.

With help of music, poetry, painting, film, I have survived these anxious weeks. After receiving a diagnose and I realized that it wasn’t the bad monster, I felt liberated and my toughts moved on.  I found out that moments are important in life.

To nurture a moment was for me priority.  It s not just the moment but the feelings you have during this time.

An artist creates a strong emotional feeling at a given moment, a feeling that you may never forget.

Sometimes, later, If you think of that artist (relisten to music, reread a book, admiring a paint,), you think back to that moment and almost relive the emotions again.

Inversely, if you look back to a moment, you mostly link the artist with an emotional state.

To catch: finds out, discover

A moment: short period of time

I want you to discover on CYMOblog moments with an emotional touch., created by art, music, paints, books …

Catching your moment,

Sincerely yours,

Nadia Oussehmine
