Aiko

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Tokyo-born, New York-based artist Aiko only started her solo art career three years ago but since then has exhibited her work everywhere from LA to London, Berlin, Tokyo and Barcelona. Her mixed media creations explore ideas of female sexuality, street and Kawaii culture, flashbacks from her childhood and visions of the future. Her use of cartoons and pulp fiction animation explores the differences between the Madonna and the Whore complex, vixens and virgins and everything that goes along with it.
The works are colourful but remain dark and moody and there’s a story behind all of them if you only look.

We like it!
